Description

Anthropology Demystified Akshat Jain IAS For UPSC And State Civil Services Examinations

PREFACE

Anthropology is a discipline that has grown quite popular as an optional subject in Civil Services Examination (CSE) conducted by UPSC and other state cornmissions. However, as aspirants realise later, the subject is not as easy to prepare as commonly perceived. Unlike some other optional subjects, anthropology lacks a clear and standard resource lost. Aspirants have to go through numerous offline and online sources, then compile and build their own material. In this process, many-a-times, aspirants rely on information that is not suited to the demands of the exam, or one which is simply outdated. Thus, it becomes difficult for them to frame their notes and anewers in the correct way. As a former aspirant myself, I perfectly understand these problems and corresponding requirements. It is precisely this reason that forms the rationale behind the book

I secured 335 out of a maximum 500 marks in anthropology in UPSC CSE 2018, a score that was amongst the highest in that year’s exam, and helped me achieve All India Rank 2. It gives me great satisfaction now to share the very same and in fact enhanced content that I relied on during my own preparation. This book is precisely a reflection of the way I had prepared for the subject. The entire syllabus has been produced in the form of model answers, which appropriately cover the topics in depth, including several previous year questions. Through these model answers, aspirants will got access to high quality material that is not only theoretically rich, but also updated with case shafies, diagrams and current affairs. Furthermore, aspirants will be able to understand the correct approach of framing answers, which in turn will enable them to read any source effectively and concisely. This book will also be extremely useful to those who do not have sufficient time to go through different sources, and are in need of a one-stop solution. These include aspirants who change their optional subject to anthropology after giving previous attempts with some other subject.

Finally, I would urge all readers to go through the Introduction section of the book without fail. It will help them deduce the way the matter of this book has been structured, and thus extract maximum value out of it. It will also provide them useful inputs to further update and enrich the content

With this, I would like to wish all the best to the present and future aspirants. I sincerely hope that this book helps you in your preparation, and becomes a small contributor to your success.
