History of Modern Maharashtra
Preface to revised edition
Background to ‘History of Modern Maharashtra’ was decently provided in the preface to the first edition. The second revised edition represents an extensive revision of the chapters in the first edition and a substantial enlargement through the addition of five new chapters. It had become apparent that a few matters were insufficiently dealt with previously. The issues and the understandings derived from them form the basis of three new chapters; dealing with tribal, non-tribal and peasant uprisings in India.
Also, topics like Constitutional development in India and
Labour movements in India were brought forth. It is hoped, therefore, that the book will continue to appeal to those with an interest in academic history as well as
competitive studies.
Much care has been taken for the production of this edition and much help received. Inevitably, some inadequacies may remain; some of our own making and some due to lack of information on certain points. Hopefully, such problems will be few compared to the information presented and will surely be dealt with in future editions.
Warm regards,
