In recent years, the subject has emerged as a game-changer with as many as 10 to 15 questions being asked from it.

While the book Majid Husain’s Indian and World Geography in its seventh edition retains the original content written by Prof. Majid Husain, it has been meticulously revised, redesigned, and restructured to align with the evolving requirements of UPSC aspirants, covering the comprehensive syllabus of both the Preliminary and Mains examinations, specifically to balance conceptual clarity with exam-focused precision. Numerous examples and case studies have been included to enable students to develop an analytical approach towards the discipline.

Being a former aspirant, I know it can be difficult to understand seemingly complex geographical concepts. Students are often forced to rely on rote learning, gradually decreasing their interest in the subject. With the intention of solving this specific problem, we have ensured that all topics are conceptually explained either through the text, or through images, diagrams, maps, and interactive features like videos that have been added in this edition! And to facilitate memorisation where necessary, we have tried to provide Learning Tricks and Quick Revision Boxes to make the cramming ordeal slightly less cumbersome.

Special emphasis has been placed on integrating current geographical developments with static content to provide a holistic understanding of the subject. We have also added UPSC CSE Previous Years’ Questions at the end of the chapters to ensure that aspirants can assess and refine their preparation.
