T here are many dictionaries that provide the definitions and concepts of a particular subject, finch dictionaries are available for Economics also. They arrange all terms alphabetically and give a large number of entries. The problem associated with then is that they list numerous terms using technical words. This makes them difficult to understand and remember

When the first edition of this book was conceived, it was a tough task to decide how to choose the Key Concepts that are most relevant to the Indian Economy, as there are umpteen number of economic concepts. The next task was to determine how to present them.

First. I tried to answer the second question, and the first question got answered automatically. I identified broader topics which are more relevant to the Indian Economy and decided to explain the interlinked concepts under those topics. I provided those concepts in a simple language with examples wherever possible. Still, there were some standalone but important concepts that could not be presented under the sub-topics of broader topics. I placed those topics under the heading Related Terms. This helped to keep only the most relevant concepts in the book in a schematic mariner. This helped to keep the book slim, short and sweet.

Yet one more challenge kept haunting me as how to explain some important concepts which appest in the news now and then. If I had to add those concepts to the book, the scheme maintained by the book would be disturbed and the book would turn. bulky. So, I was not adding them, though the book was revised almost every year. I added only those concepts which fit into the scheme of the book and left out some ephemeral concepts.

Now I have found a solution. I decided to add a fresh chapter: Important Concepts in the News (ICONs). Under this chapter, I have decided to add important concepts that were in the news in the last two years. For example, in this edition, I have added ICONs of the years 2023 and 2024. In the next edition, I will drop ICoNs of 2023 and add ICONs of 2025. By this, the fear of missing out on current concepts is addressed, and the book is kept slim, short, and sweet as usual.
